THE CARRY ON MARCH

CARRY ON is a dance collaboration created specifically during and for the time of COVID-19. It is a response to the anxiety of uncertainty, isolation, the major economic drain and immediate shut down of arts opportunities worldwide. Different than dance on film, it was formatted to fit boxes on your screen. It is an anthem to the world to CARRY ON, encouragement and a boost in times of trouble. Dancers (Top to Bottom, Left to Right) Mathew Heggem, Asya Zlatina Nemirovsky, Violet Giddings, Alisa Iacovelli, Harlee Trautman, Areal Bell, Sarah Warren, Zummy Rayan, ChellieFig (Michelle Figueiredo) Music: The beautiful sounds of Beethoven's 7th, Allegro Con Brio

APRIL MILESTONE

In this still early attempt to work with technology, ARTIST HOUSE wishes a dear friend a HAPPY RETIREMENT. Important milestones in life did not stop just because our gatherings did. This tribute to a special figure in the global Bronfman community went in with a full heart for a virtual hug as best it could.

THIS IS ANXIETY

From #TMI 6.13.20. Anxiety in physical form. Take in the face up-close, reflect on what the dancer sees, the eyes and how you interact with them, what do you see? This outside expression of inner turmoil helps the artist remain intact rather than crumbling to pieces and the struggles within. Building this dance started with the concept of “Anxiety“ – this is what was necessary to expunge from the body. Having selected the concept, music that embodies this emotion was sought and found as "Angst" by Inzo, (stream at https://lowly.ffm.to/inzoangst.) This exploration of a particular human state draws energy from circumstance, world events, truths and text in the sound.

CATCH ME - Warning Loud Noises

2020. Submission from the annual fundraiser for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. We are links in a chain, even in the darkest hour. Music by Beethoven. ARTIST HOUSE was proud to be part of such an important cause.

NOT YET

Finding strength in July through this in-quarantine collaboration by Ask la Cour of New York City Ballet and ARTIST HOUSE/Asya Zlatina + Dancers (Philadelphia), set to the beautiful sound of pianist and composer Jonathan Howard Katz. Also with Kristen Kurie. Alone in our homes, we are united by uncertainty and loneliness in times of COVID, longing for human contact and the compassion of strangers.
Premiered July 22, 2020.

The following collaboration between ARTIST HOUSE and Anna and Rob Li of ROB LI PHOTOGRAPHY came at a time when COVID was at its peak. The photographers and dancer worked at a time that was so specific, and yet the world was locked in a feeling so wide-spread and universal.

To see more work by the photographers, Rob and Anna Li can be found on Instagram at @robli_photography and @picturezit, respectively.
